Christy A. Smith (October 1st, 2011)

Listen Online:

While visiting areas across the region as part of my trip to the 2011 Sudbury Studio Tour, organized by the Sudbury Crafts and Arts Foundation (SCARF), I came across nature enthusiast and artist Christy A. Smith, who was showing her work the Kinsmen Hall alongside a number of other SCARF members.
Christy’s work is done in her own personalized impressionistic art style with influences from The Group of Seven as well as Emily Carr. Doing her work largely “plein air”, out in the elements where she finds her subjects, the driving force of her work appears to be sharing with viewers the deep connection she feels with nature and the landscape so particular to Northern Ontario . She works mainly in watercolour pastel and pencil.
